Analyst Says Foldable MacBook Will Have 18.8-Inch Screen

Less than two hours after Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted a 2026 launch for a MacBook with an 18.8-inch or 20.2-inch foldable screen, display industry expert Ross Young confirmed the device will indeed feature an 18.8-inch screen.

In a post on the social media platform X, available only to his paying subscribers, Ross Young mentioned that he expects the foldable MacBook to have an 18.76-inch display rather than a 20.25-inch one due to cost considerations. When folded, Kuo stated that an 18.8-inch MacBook would be comparable in size to a traditional 13-inch or 14-inch MacBook.

A foldable-screen MacBook is anticipated to feature an all-screen design with a virtual keyboard, although exact design details remain speculative. Kuo noted that Apple aims to make the foldable screen “as crease-free as possible,” which could make the device almost as expensive as the Vision Pro headset, starting at $3,499. He also mentioned that the foldable MacBook will include Apple’s next-generation M5 chip, which has not yet been announced.

It appears that a foldable-screen MacBook is still a few years from release, and Apple will finalize its plans for the device as the launch date approaches.
