Today, Apple revealed redesigned iPad Pro models showcasing the M4 chip, Ultra Retina XDR OLED displays, a nano-texture display option, and additional enhancements.
The latest iPad Pro introduces a significantly slimmer design and slightly larger 11- and 13-inch display choices. The 11-inch variant measures 5.3mm thin and weighs under a pound, while the 13-inch version is merely 5.1mm thick and weighs a quarter pound less than its predecessor, marking it as Apple’s thinnest product ever. Enhanced thermal efficiency is achieved through graphite sheets within the main housing and copper elements in the Apple logo.
Featuring an Ultra Retina XDR OLED display, the iPad Pro employs a tandem panel setup to deliver improved fullscreen brightness, reaching up to 1,000 nits for SDR and HDR content, and 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness. This yields deeper blacks, enhanced shadow and low-light detail, brighter highlights, improved luminance, and heightened responsiveness to motion.
Powered by the M4 chip utilizing second-generation 3nm technology, the device incorporates a new display engine, along with hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing, resulting in a 50% boost in CPU performance compared to the M2 in the previous model and quadrupled rendering capability.
The 12-megapixel front camera has been relocated to the side for an improved video calling experience, while the rear camera now supports ProRes video recording and Smart HDR 4, alongside an Adaptive TrueTone flash for enhanced document scanning.
For the first time, the iPad Pro offers a nano-texture display option, housed in an enclosure made entirely of recycled aluminum and available in Silver and Space Black finishes.
Pricing starts at $999 for the 11-inch model and $1,299 for the 13-inch variant, with orders commencing today and the product launching on Wednesday, May 15th.
