Apple Releases 7th iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 Developer Betas, Public Beta Now Available

Today, Apple gave developers the seventh version of the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 betas to keep testing Apple Intelligence features. These new betas come just a week after the sixth versions were released.

You can download the updates from the Settings app on a compatible device by going to General > Software Update. Keep in mind that Apple Intelligence features need an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 to work.

Apple Intelligence includes Writing Tools that help you with tasks like spell checking, fixing grammar, changing the tone of your writing, and summarizing text, available wherever you can select and edit text.

Siri has a new look with a soft glow around the screen, and you can now type to Siri instead of speaking. Siri can understand you even if you stumble over your words and can remember the context between requests. Safari can now summarize articles, and there’s a new “Reduce Interruptions” Focus Mode.

Smart replies are available in Messages and Mail, and the Mail app highlights important messages, putting them at the top of your inbox. The Photos app has a Memory Movie feature that lets you create slideshows using text descriptions. You can also record, transcribe, and summarize phone calls, and these features work for any audio recording as well.

For more details on the current features in the betas, check out our Apple Intelligence guide. Features like Image Playground, Genmoji, and other new Siri updates haven’t been added yet.

The update also includes phone call recording and transcription on all devices, and it adds the ability to take spatial photos on iPhone 15 Pro models.
