According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s iOS 18 update will bring new features for further customizing the iPhone’s home screen.
In his latest “Power On” newsletter, Gurman stated that Apple will introduce a feature in iOS 18 allowing users to customize the color of app icons. For instance, users can opt for a uniform color scheme like making all social icons blue or finance-related ones green. Currently, achieving such home screen customization requires creating single-action shortcuts with custom icons to launch an app.
Additionally, Gurman confirmed previous reports that iOS 18 will permit users to freely place apps anywhere on the home screen’s grid. This flexibility will enable users to arrange icons more freely, akin to the placement of widgets currently allowed.
iOS 18 is anticipated to be showcased alongside Apple’s other major software updates at WWDC in June, with an official release to the public expected in the fall.
