Device Compatibility
Before proceeding, ensure that your device is compatible with iOS 18. The update supports models from iPhone XS and newer.
Preparation Steps

Backup Your Device:
Back up your iPhone or iPad before installing beta software. You can do this via iCloud or by connecting your device to a Mac or PC using iTunes or Finder. -
Check Your iOS Version:
Make sure your device is running at least iOS 16.4. If not, update to the latest version of iOS 17 before proceeding.
Installing the iOS 18 Public Beta

Sign Up for the Public Beta:
Visit Apple’s Beta Software Program and sign in with your Apple ID. Enroll in the Apple Beta Software Program if you haven’t done so previously. -
Access Settings:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Navigate to General > Software Update. -
Enable Beta Updates:
Tap on Beta Updates and select iOS 18 Public Beta. -
Download and Install:
After selecting the public beta, tap Download and Install. Enter your device passcode if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. -
Troubleshooting:
If you do not see the option for Beta Updates, try quitting and relaunching the Settings app. Ensure you are signed in to the correct Apple ID associated with the beta program.
Installing the iOS 18 Developer Beta

Sign Up for the Developer Beta:
Go to Apple’s Developer Site and create a free developer account using your Apple ID if you haven’t registered before. -
Access Settings:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Go to General > Software Update. -
Enable Beta Updates:
Tap on Beta Updates and choose iOS 18 Developer Beta. -
Download and Install:
Tap Download and Install after selecting the developer beta. Enter your device passcode and follow the prompts to install.
Important Considerations

Beta Software Risks:
Beta versions may contain bugs and performance issues. It is advisable to install beta software on a secondary device rather than your primary phone. -
Reverting to iOS 17:
If you encounter issues with the beta, you can revert to iOS 17. This process involves restoring your device from the backup you created prior to the update.
