Apple continues to rely on Qualcomm for its modems, and the Snapdragon X75 in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max delivers up to 26% faster 5G download speeds. While rumors suggest Apple may switch to its own modems by 2025, the iPhone 16 lineup still uses Qualcomm’s technology.
Data from the SpeedSmart app shows the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max outperforming the iPhone 15 Pro models by up to 26%. The Snapdragon X75 modem offers 5G Advanced support, improved power efficiency, and better 5G carrier aggregation for faster uploads.
The data reveals that T-Mobile and Verizon have average download speeds exceeding 400 Mbps. As the mmWave 5G network expands across the US, users can expect even faster download and upload speeds. Upload speeds have also improved by around 22% for AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, with an average upload speed of over 30 Mbps.
Customers can pre-order the iPhone 16 starting on Friday, September 13, with first shipments and in-store availability beginning on September 20.
