A new report claims that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first iPhones to use Samsung’s M14 OLED display panels, enhancing brightness and extending longevity. Previous rumors had mentioned improvements in screen brightness, with one in September 2023 suggesting Apple would use a Micro Lens Array to reflect more OLED light forward.
According to South Korea’s ETNews, the iPhone 16 Pro models will feature Samsung’s latest M14 OLED displays, which utilize 14 high-performance materials. While specific brightness improvements weren’t detailed, a separate leak in May 2024 suggested the iPhone 16 Pro could reach 1,200 nits, up from the iPhone 15 Pro’s 1,000 nits.
This marks the first use of Samsung’s latest-generation screen by Apple. Samsung is also reportedly supplying the same model to the Google Pixel 9 series.
The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to launch in September, with the Google Pixel 9 also anticipated in the second half of 2024.
Additionally, previous rumors have claimed that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have larger displays than their iPhone 15 counterparts, increasing from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches for the Pro and from 6.69 inches to 6.9 inches for the Pro Max.
