Apple has released a new developer beta for its AirPods Pro 2 software.
Apple has released a new beta update for developers to test on the AirPods Pro 2, getting ready for the iOS 18.1 public release in October. Apple regularly gives developers beta versions of its software, including for AirPods, to test new features.
This latest beta, released on Tuesday, updates the AirPods Pro 2 to version 7B5013d from 7B5013c. It only works with AirPods Pro 2 (both USB-C and Lightning versions) and not with other devices like AirPods Max.
While we don’t know exactly what changes this update brings, AirPods Pro 2 are expected to get new hearing aid and hearing test features later in 2024. These features, designed to help people with mild to moderate hearing loss, were first mentioned at Apple’s ‘Glowtime’ event in June and were approved by the FDA in September. Some settings for these features have already been spotted in iOS 18.1 beta versions.
