Screenshots from the Gamma emulator on the App Store
On May 11th, Gamma, a free emulator for the original Sony PlayStation, became available on the iOS and iPad App Stores. Similar to Riley Testut’s Delta emulator, Gamma features a familiar interface and supports customizable on-screen controller skins, as well as Bluetooth controllers and wired keyboards. It offers Google Drive and Dropbox integration for backing up game disk images and progress automatically. Users have the flexibility to choose their preferred backup method. Notably, Gamma doesn’t require BIOS files for emulation.
Although our initial trials revealed some execution issues, we anticipate fixes soon. ZodTTD, a seasoned emulator developer known for his work on Nintendo 64 and TurboGrafx emulators over a decade ago, leads the development of Gamma.
Once a game is launched, Gamma will automatically fetch the corresponding artwork for players. Adhering to the App Store’s emulator regulations, Gamma is completely free, with no in-app purchases.
