Samsung announced today that it will introduce AirPlay support to its hotel room TV series, enabling iPhone and iPad users to wirelessly stream videos, music, photos, and more from their devices to the room’s TV.
The feature allows users to scan a unique QR code displayed on the hotel room TV to establish an AirPlay connection for wireless streaming from an iPhone or iPad. Once paired, the device automatically connects to the hotel’s Wi-Fi network. iOS 17.3 or iPadOS 17.3 or later is required for compatibility.
AirPlay on hotel room TVs supports various apps and services such as Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade for games, and Apple Fitness+ for workouts.
Samsung ensures no personal information is stored or saved during this AirPlay usage, and the paired device is automatically disconnected upon hotel checkout.
Samsung has not disclosed which hotel chains will offer its AirPlay-enabled TVs. Previously, LG introduced a similar feature earlier this year on hotel room TVs at select IHG Hotels & Resorts locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, with plans to expand to more properties.
Google has also long provided a Chromecast streaming feature on many hotel room TVs, compatible with both iPhones and Android devices.
